Elliott Rae

Father of: a beautiful four year-old girl

Favourite album: currently Burna Boy’s ‘African Giant’ – it;s a future classic

Football team: the mighty QPR #ComeOnYouRrrrsssss!

Hobbies and interests: music, football and fatherhood (ironically). Apart from that I’m partial to a Netflix binge session (did someone say Love is Blind hahaha)

Why you started the MFF team: the first few months of fatherhood were a whirlwind for me. I needed a space to express myself. At the time I didn’t know that so many other dads felt the same way but now I still have to pinch myself when I think about what MFF has become, the community we have grown, the content we have created and the amazing people I’ve been lucky enough to work with.

Biggest pet peeve: selfishness and an unwillingness to try and understand, and empathize, with other people’s lives and experiences

Highlight of the last 12 months: outside of seeing my daughter grow and learn so much, it’s got to be wining an award from the United Nations!

Why you joined the MFF team: to contribute to honest conversations about fatherhood that help to redefine the perception and role of the modern dad

Biggest pet peeve: poor hygiene and poor manners, there’s no excuse for either

Father of: Two daughters (20 and 16) from my first marriage, and two bonus kids (a son, 14 and daughter, 11) who came along with my second wife

Football team: Controversially, I’m not a fan of any particular team (or football generally) – but I’m a fan of sports generally.

Hobbies and interests: Aside from spending time spent with my family and writing, I also love to read fiction and non-fiction, hiking in the hills and working out at the gym regularly as well as road cycling.

Why you joined the MFF team: I’m excited to be able to reach a new audience to broaden awareness of co-parenting and ways for parents and kids alike to live a happier and more fulfilled life after divorce or separation of the family unit.

Biggest pet peeve: How to encourage my kids that there’s life beyond the screens of their phones while trying to use mine judiciously too!

Highlight of the last 12 months: Being invited to write an article for the Daily Telegraph on Birds Nest Co-parenting After Divorce, which led to an interview in the Daily Mail and then a radio interview on RTE Radio in Dublin on the same topic. I’m excited by the growing public interest in co-parenting and in finding better ways to parent our kids after divorce.
