It’s that time again. At the beginning of every month we provide your sound track to the month with the best UK music released over the last few weeks. There’s been loads of quality music released recently, it’s an exciting time for UK music.
What should you be listening to? The freshest UK music on: ‘The November 16 Playlist’
Mist – Ain’t The Same
I’ve had this on repeat for the last few weeks since the video dropped on GRM Daily. The video has upped the levels of UK music visuals and the tune, produced by Steel Banglez, and is an absolute banger! Mist is one of those artists that has swagger without even trying to hard and I have no doubt once you hear this track, you’ll feel that bit more wavey.
Mo Stack ft. Krept X Konan X J Hus – Liar Liar Remix
The original was a banger on it’s own but MoStack has just gone and got 3 of the hottest rappers in the game to lace the remix! My favourite verse has to be from Konan, how he attacks the tune is too cold. This is no doubt one of the biggest tunes of the year so far.
Dave – Wanna Know feat. Drake (Remix)
The internet literally shut down last week as Drake premiered this track on his OVO radio show. Dave is the future and Drake has just helped the future become the present with his feature on ‘Wanna Know’. The tune was massive already but we all know what happens when Drake steps on a track, big tunes turn to hit records. Salute to Dave, the future is here and your time is now!
Wretch 32 – All A Dream
Wretch’s album is full of great songs. This is one of my personal favourites from the ‘Growing Over Life’ album and it’s one that I still play on a near daily basis. The production, delivery and message is all so sick, I can see this one shutting down festivals for years to come.
Trim – Before I Lied
Trim’s album 1800 Dinosaur has to be one of the most under rated projects this year. Trim disappeared for a good few years but has come back with an experimental, creative and innovative project. 1800 Dinosaur nods to Emo and Experimental while keeping to Trim’s original Grime roots. It’s a really interesting album and if it was released by someone with a major label push it would be nominated for awards such as the Mercury Prize (yes it’s that good!). One of the best tracks on the album is ‘Before I Lied’.
Donae’o – Black Feat. JmeBBK & Dizzee Rascal
Donaeo has had an incredible year. Releasing banger after banger from ‘My Circle’, ‘Polo’, ‘Lock Doh’ with Giggs and now this new track ‘Black’ with none other than JME and the legend that is Dizzee Rascal. Donaeo is also a legend in this game too, year after year he manages to release great music and stay relevant. It seems like he is starting to get the recognition for all his hard work and talent. ‘Black’ is a great track that will BANG in the clubs. All i can say is Donaeo’s live show must be crazy right now.
Teks Sinatra – Lounging
I found Teks Sinatra while browsing through Soundcloud and spent a good hour listening to his tracks. The music sounds like therapy, something that’s missing in the game right now. Soulful production, a laid back flow and some real content, Teks is a real talent. Checkout ‘Lounging’ and thank me later.
Etta Bond x Chris Loco – All of My Love
Etta Bond and Chris Loco have been making great music together for years and ‘All of My Love’ is no different. You’ll get lost in the vibe as ‘All of My Love’ takes you on an experimental journey. It’s hard to really describe this track, just listen.
Rival – 12/10 (Happy Birthday Rivz) X The Bake
Rival is another under rated MC but I for one is glad that he’s back to making real good grime music. 12/10 x The Bake are two tracks that reflect on Rival’s journey so far and and his current mind state. The tracks are honest and inspiring and the production top quality. Let’s hope we hear more like this from Rival!
